IUBAT mourns loss of Professor Dr Hamida Akhtar Begum

The International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Professor Dr Hamida Akhtar Begum, esteemed member of the IUBAT Board of Trustees and former pro vice-chancellor of the university. She passed away today (21 October) at approximately 10:15 am at Ahsania Mission Cancer Hospital, Uttara, while undergoing treatment.
Professor Dr Hamida Akhtar Begum was born in 1941 and dedicated her life to education, earning widespread recognition as a distinguished scholar and academic leader. She obtained her PhD and MA degrees from the University of Manitoba, Canada. Her illustrious career included serving as professor and head of the Department of Psychology at the University of Dhaka, provost of Bangladesh-Kuwait Maitree Hall, and director of the Student Counselling and Guidance Centre.
Her outstanding contributions to higher education, student welfare, and academic leadership will remain a lasting legacy. The IUBAT family expresses heartfelt condolences to her bereaved family and prays for eternal peace for the departed soul of this eminent educator.
