IUBAT launches four IEEE chapters to advance student research
The International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) inaugurated four new chapters under the IEEE IUBAT Student Branch to expand opportunities for student research, innovation and professional development.
The new bodies are the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society Student Branch Chapter, IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society Student Branch Chapter, IEEE Computational Intelligence Society Student Branch Chapter and IEEE Women in Engineering Affinity Group, according to a press release.
They join the existing IEEE Computer Society Student Branch Chapter, further strengthening the university's platform for technical activities, interdisciplinary projects, industry collaboration, entrepreneurship, humanitarian initiatives and global professional networking.
Professor Dr Celia Shahnaz, Professor Dr Shaikh Anwarul Fattah and Professor Dr M Firoz Mridha addressed the inauguration ceremony.
They highlighted how professional societies develop students' technical knowledge, leadership capacity, research skills and international networks.
Professor Selina Nargis, Treasurer of IUBAT; Professor Dr Mohammad Mahmudur Rahman, Pro-Vice-Chancellor; Professor Dr Dewan Muhammad Nuruzzaman, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology; Professor Dr Utpal Kanti Das, Dean of the School of Computer Science and Engineering; and Dr Khadiza Akter, Counsellor of the IEEE IUBAT Student Branch, attended the event.
The university leaders reaffirmed IUBAT's commitment to developing globally competent engineers, researchers, innovators and technology leaders.
They encouraged students to use the IEEE platforms to undertake research, develop technological solutions, collaborate across disciplines, participate in international competitions, publish academic work and build connections with academics and industry professionals.
Speakers also emphasised the need to apply academic knowledge to address national and global challenges.
The IEEE Robotics and Automation Society chapter will allow students to explore robotics, automation, artificial intelligence, control systems and intelligent technologies.
The Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society chapter will promote interdisciplinary learning and research at the intersection of engineering, healthcare and biomedical science.
The Computational Intelligence Society chapter will support student engagement in artificial intelligence, machine learning, neural networks, evolutionary computing and other emerging technologies.
The Women in Engineering Affinity Group will seek to inspire, support and empower women in engineering, science and technology while promoting diversity and inclusive leadership.
IUBAT said the new chapters would help students strengthen their technical expertise, research capabilities, leadership skills and professional networks.
