Bangladesh University celebrates 'Family Day 2026'
Bangladesh University (BU) hosted its day-long "Family Day 2026" at the permanent campus today (16 September, 2026), giving the campus a festive look.
The event was organised to strengthen mutual relationships, foster fellowship and harmony, and boost team spirit among the university's teachers, officers, and employees, according to a press release. The press release said they had extended the invitation.
Setting aside their routine professional responsibilities, faculty members and administrative staff took part in recreational activities, including a friendly short-pitch cricket match, musical chairs, penalty shootouts, pot-breaking, and a carrom competition.
Addressing the gathering, Vice Chancellor of Bangladesh University Professor Dr Md Jahangir Alam said: "Bangladesh University is not merely an educational institution; it is a family that belongs to all of us. An institution's success depends not only on its academic activities but also on the sincerity, cooperation, and good relationships among everyone associated with it. Events like Family Day help strengthen this sense of family and togetherness."
Jahangir added: "When we come together and share moments of joy beyond our regular professional responsibilities, it helps reduce distance among colleagues and strengthens friendship, harmony, and mutual understanding. This also has a positive impact on the workplace. I hope today's arrangement will inspire everyone with renewed enthusiasm and contribute to making the journey of Bangladesh University even more dynamic and successful."
Present on the occasion were the Secretary of the Board of Trustees of Bangladesh University, Engineer MA Golam Dastagir; Registrar Brig Gen Md Mahbubul Haque (retd); Director of Public Relations Sohel Ahsan Nipu; deans of different faculties; and departmental heads.
The second segment of the programme featured a raffle draw, followed by a cultural function.
