3 killed in head-on collision between bus, auto-rickshaw in Natore

Three people, including a student of Jahangirnagar University (JU), were killed in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Natore's Bonbelghoria area on Friday afternoon.
The accident occurred around 4:30pm on the Natore-Rajshahi highway, confirmed Md Abdul Kalam, sub-inspector of Jholmolia Highway Police Station.
"The collision took place when a Sirajganj-bound passenger bus and a Rajshahi-bound CNG-run auto-rickshaw collided head-on. Three people, including the CNG driver, died on the spot. Their bodies have been handed over to their families and a case has been filed," the officer said.
Among the deceased was 24-year-old Sagar Ahmed, a student of Jahangirnagar University's 46th batch in the Environmental Sciences department. He had recently enrolled in postgraduate studies at the university's Institute of Remote Sensing and GIS.
Speaking to The Business Standard, Professor Jamal Uddin Runu, chairman of the university's Environmental Sciences department, said, "We are deeply shocked by this sudden loss. The university extends its condolences to his family. We demand a proper investigation and punishment if anyone is found responsible for the incident."
