2 killed, 7 injured in Bagerhat bus-motorcycle collision
Two passengers killed on the spot as bus overturns into a roadside ditch
Two people were killed and seven others injured after a bus and a motorcycle collided head-on in Rampal upazila of Bagerhat today (7 November).
The identities of the deceased and injured could not be confirmed immediately, police said.
Mongla EPZ Fire Service and Civil Defence Senior Station Officer Emran Hossain said a passenger bus heading towards Khulna from Mongla collided head-on with a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction near the Tetulia Bridge on the Khulna-Mongla Highway.
"As the driver attempted to brake, the bus lost control and overturned into a roadside ditch. Two passengers died on the spot, while seven others, including the motorcyclists, sustained serious injuries. The injured were rescued and taken to Jhajhania Hospital," he said.
Emran added that the motorcyclists were tourists heading to Mongla to visit the Sundarbans.
Katakhali Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge Zafar Ahmed said the bodies of the deceased have been sent to Rampal Upazila Health Complex for post-mortem.
Vehicular movement on the highway has returned to normal, he added.
