Two bandits caught by villagers in Satkhira, firearm recovered

Two suspected bandits were captured by villagers in Munshiganj under Shyamnagar upazila of Satkhira on Monday (16 June) night.
According to locals, the suspects were apprehended from the Jatindranagar and Mirgang areas and later handed over to the police.
The detainees have been identified as Nojir Gazi, 55, from Jatindranagar village in Munshiganj union, and Didarul Islam, 38, from Baikari area in Koyra upazila of Khulna.
According to eyewitnesses, around 8:30pm, a group of 5–7 unfamiliar men arrived at Jatindranagar Bazar. Locals, growing suspicious, questioned them. When the men gave inconsistent answers and attempted to flee, the villagers chased and caught Didarul.
Didarul was handed over to Shyamnagar police upon their arrival at the scene. Later, locals also detained Nojir Gazi in the nearby Mirgang area. Based on his information, police recovered a firearm from the gang's boat.
During initial interrogation, Nojir Gazi confessed to working for the notorious 'Jonab gang' of the Sundarbans, transporting members to and from local areas. He said he was paid Tk10,000 to bring two members to the Jatindranagar market. Didarul admitted he worked under Nojir and was involved in abducting fishermen in the Sundarbans to extort ransom.
