15 injured as bus, covered van collide head-on in Satkhira

At least 15 people were injured in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a covered van on the Satkhira-Khulna highway in the Patkelghata upazila of Satkhira today (5 August).

Patkelghata Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shahinur Rahman told The Business Standard, "The accident happened when the left tyre of a moving passenger bus from Khulna suddenly burst."
"At that moment, a covered van came from the opposite direction and the two vehicles collided head-on. As a result, 12 to 15 people were injured. They were rescued immediately and taken to nearby clinics for treatment," the OC added.
According to locals, they heard a loud bang and rushed to the scene to find that a bus operated by Rozina Paribahan had collided with a covered van carrying paint materials. Several passengers on the bus and the driver of the van were injured in the incident.
