Car overturns on Dhaka Elevated Expressway after tyre burst
No serious injuries were reported in the incident.
A private car overturned on the Dhaka Elevated Expressway after one of its tyres burst tonight (9 January).
No serious injuries were reported in the incident.
Confirming the matter, Md Russel Rana, assistant commissioner (AC) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police's (DMP) Traffic Division (Mohakhali zone), told The Business Standard that the accident occurred around 7:45pm in the Tejgaon area of the elevated expressway.
"The car was travelling from Uttara towards Karwan Bazar. After crossing the Mohakhali Love Road exit ramp, a front tyre of the car burst, causing the vehicle to overturn," he said, adding that two people were inside the car at the time but neither sustained serious injuries.
The accident caused traffic congestion on the expressway from Tejgaon to Banani.
However, traffic movement returned to normal after the expressway authorities removed the car using a wrecker, the officer said.
