Bangladesh will no longer be governed by majority rule, but through the participation of all citizens, regardless of religion or belief, BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury has said.

He made the remarks this morning (11 May) while inaugurating a peace procession organised by the Sammilita Buddha Purnima Celebration Parishad in front of DC Hill in Chattogram city, marking Buddha Purnima.

"There will be no more politics of division in this country," said Khasru.

He said the country has experienced extreme unrest over the past 15 years, adding, "From politics to society, from business to the economy—every aspect of national life has been damaged."

Khasru urged people of all faiths to come together to rebuild the country.

Following his speech, the Buddha Purnima peace procession moved through various roads in the city, with participation from different communities.

Chattogram City Corporation Mayor Shahadat Hossain, Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) South Division Deputy Commissioner Md Alamgir Hossain, and other dignitaries were present at the event.
