Leather expo showcases Bangladesh’s growing capacity, export potential
9th Bangladesh Leather & Footwear Expo kicks off in Dhaka

The 9th Bangladesh Leather & Footwear Expo began at the International Convention City Bashundhara in the capital today (24 July, showcasing leather products and exporters from 14 countries.
Jointly organised by the Bangladesh Tanners Association , Leather Engineers and Technologists Society of Bangladesh and Limra Exhibitions, the event showcases the country's growing capacity in the leather industry and its export potential.
The three-day exhibition is open to visitors daily from 10am to 7pm.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Industries Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan highlighted the strategic importance of the sector for sustainable economic development.
"Modernising the leather industrial park, providing export incentives, investing in training and research, and adopting eco-friendly tannery systems and advanced machinery are essential for establishing Bangladesh's leather and footwear industry on the global stage," he said.
The adviser also emphasised the need for skilled human resources and stronger collaboration between the public and private sectors.
Organisers say the exhibition aims to highlight Bangladesh's capabilities in the leather industry and showcase the types of locally manufactured products that have export potential. More than 130 local and international companies from 14 countries are participating.
The displayed items include leather products, leather shoes, sports shoes, backpacks, and various raw materials.
The expo also features a wide array of machinery used in the leather industry, such as skiving, stamping, printing, lamination, sewing, fusing, conveying, lasting, and finishing machines.
