Lack of experience dragging interim govt into controversy: Gayeshwar
He added that the longer the election is delayed, the more the government will face questions and crises.
The current interim government is becoming embroiled in controversy due to a lack of coordination and experience, BNP Standing Committee Member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy said today (25 July).
"The government's actions are barely visible. Since it is not an elected administration, it is avoiding responsibility during various national crises," he said while visiting the family of Nusrat Jahan Anika, a third-grade student who was killed in the Bangladesh Air Force jet crash at Milestone School and College in Uttara.
He added that the longer the election is delayed, the more the government will face questions and crises.
Gayeshwar also mentioned that BNP does not intend to criticise the interim government harshly, as it is a non-partisan administration, reports UNB.
"Only an elected government is accountable to the people — not an unelected one."
He warned that without an elected government in place, the country is likely to face further uncertainty.
The BNP leader said even after four days, the air force had yet to take any responsibility for the tragic crash.
"There must be a proper investigation. Those responsible must be identified and held to account, so that such a heartbreaking incident is not repeated in the future," he added.
