Not AL men with clean image, but ex-AL men who left party before its fascist rule can join BNP: Rizvi

Not Awami League workers with a clean image, but former AL politicians who left the party before its fascist rule and have opposed its misrule, looting, and money laundering can join the BNP, the party's Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi clarified in a statement today (8 May), debunking media reports.

Media reports, citing Rizvi, that stated "Awami League workers with a clean image can also become members of BNP are completely false, fabricated, baseless and politically motivated," reads the clarification issued by the BNP media cell.

"Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi at a press conference at the BNP central office in Nayapaltan today said: Those who have not been in politics for a long time or have left the party before the fascist rule of Awami League and have opposed the misrule, looting and money laundering of Awami League, they can join," it also reads.

"We want that decent people of the society, absolutely decent people, who may have retired, who cherished nationalist politics in their hearts, they can be teachers, bankers, government officials, NGO officials, farmers and workers, they can also become primary members. In this case, only people who believe in the ideology of the BNP can become primary members of the BNP," the statement further reads.

"However, my statement was distorted, fabricated and intentionally published in the media, which I strongly condemn and protest against. I call on the media to present my correct statement," Rizvi also said.
