2 more charred bodies found at Savar municipal community centre
Three other bodies had previously been recovered from the same location
Police have recovered two more charred bodies from the abandoned Savar Municipal Community Centre in Dhaka, less than a month after previous discoveries at the same location.
The bodies were found today (18 January) on the second floor of the community centre following a 999 emergency call.
Authorities are yet to confirm the identity, gender, or age of the deceased.
"We have not yet been able to identify the bodies. We are preserving the crime scene for the PBI's investigation, and our intensive inquiry is ongoing," Savar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Arman Ali told The Business Standard.
Dhaka District Police Additional Superintendent (Savar circle) Md Asaduzzaman said three other bodies had previously been recovered from the same location.
He added that CCTV cameras have been installed at the community centre in coordination with the upazila administration, though activation is pending.
"The abandoned state of the building has created opportunities for misuse," he noted.
He confirmed that the Police Bureau of Investigation's (PBI) crime scene unit is conducting examinations and that legal and identification procedures are underway.
Police suspect the murders may have occurred in the early morning today.
Earlier, on 19 December, police recovered the body of an unidentified young man from the centre. The victim had suffered a severe head injury and was partially burned and decomposed.
