Khokon Chandra Barman, an individual who was critically injured during the July uprising, has returned to the country after finishing the first phase of his treatment in Russia.

Khokon, along with Personal Assistant of Health Adviser Dr Mahmudul Hasan, reached Dhaka on a Qatar Airlines flight this morning (7 May).

Earlier, Khokon was sent to Russia for the first phase of the reconstruction surgery of his mouth on behalf of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Talking about Khokon's treatment, Russia-trained Physician Mahmudul said, "The first phase of Khokon's surgery was successfully held at a local hospital in Russia on 22 April."

"During the surgery, three to four splinters were removed from his mouth. During the second phase of Khokon's treatment, doctors will work on his maxilla," Mahmudul said.

Mahmudul added, "The second phase of Khokon's treatment is the toughest, which will determine the reconfiguration of his face."

While talking to reporters, Mahmudul further said the second phase of Khokon's treatment will be conducted by three Russian doctors, including a national professor and two professors.

Health Adviser Nurjahan Begum and her Special Assistant Dr Md Sayedur Rahman inquired about Khokon's treatment constantly.

Menawhile, Khokon has sought prayers from everyone for his recovery.
