BB deputy director goes missing, last traced to Sayedabad; GD filed
The communication confirmed that the family has filed a general diary with the police, and law enforcement is actively working to locate him
A deputy director of Bangladesh Bank (BB), Nayeem Rahman (assistant director, 19th Batch), has been reported missing since yesterday (9 November), raising serious concerns among his colleagues and family and prompting the filing of a GD.
According to a communication shared by the Bangladesh Bank Officers' Welfare Council, Dhaka, Nayeem left his office after 12pm, leaving behind his bag and identity card. Mobile tracking data indicates his last known location was in the Sayedabad area at 12:53pm yesterday.
The message says the missing official, who is the sole male guardian for his mother, wife, daughter, and younger sister, sent a final message to a batchmate at 12:53pm.
The content of the message has led colleagues to believe that he may have been suffering from severe financial stress.
In the message, Nayeem pleaded for help securing a job for his younger sister, concluding that this might be his "last wish" from his batchmate.
Masum Billah, additional director and president of the Bangladesh Bank Officers' Welfare Council, Dhaka, shared the news and urged the public to assist in the search.
"His mother, wife, daughter, and younger sister are anxiously awaiting his return," the appeal stated, requesting journalists to give the news serious coverage.
The communication confirmed that the family has filed a general diary (GD) with the police, and law enforcement is actively working to locate him.
