Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized Indian bidi (mini-cigars) worth Tk4.2 lakh and Indian sarees worth Tk20.7 lakh during separate raids in Bishwambarpur and Sunamganj Sadar upazilas early today (28 April).

BGB Sunamganj-28 Battalion Captain AKM Zakaria Qadir confirmed the seizures, adding that the seized goods will be handed over at the customs office.

Sunamganj-28 BGB sources said that personnel from Chinakandi Border Outpost (BOP) conducted a raid at Dhanpur in Bishwambarpur upazila around 1am.

They recovered 10,080 packets of Indian bidi from Shildowar, approximately 150 yards inside Bangladesh from border pillar 1209/5-S.

Besides, BGB personnel of Chinaura BOP conducted a raid at around 5:30am in the Chinaura area of Rangarchar Union in Sunamganj Sadar upazila and seized 345 pieces of Indian sarees that were left unclaimed.
