Hridoy handed four-match suspension

The saga surrounding Towhid Hridoy's suspensions continues as the Mohammadan batter has been handed a four-match ban after breaching the Bangladesh Cricket Board's (BCB) Code of Conduct once again.

This latest suspension follows his argument with the umpire in the Super League match against Gazi Group Cricketers, where he expressed dissatisfaction with the decision after being dismissed.

Hridoy, already carrying seven demerit points from earlier incidents, added a new demerit point to his record after failing to attend a hearing, resulting in the imposition of a fine and suspension. As a result, his demerit points now total eight, which, under the DPL's rules, triggers a four-match suspension.

The Central Zone Cricket Committee (CCDM) officially notified Mohammadan Sporting Club and Hridoy of this decision through a letter, confirming that the suspension is now in effect. The punishment will see Hridoy miss the crucial match against Abahani, which is being referred to as the "unofficial final" of the DPL. The outcome of this match will decide the champion of the season.

Earlier in the tournament, Hridoy had received a two-match suspension following an argument with the umpire during the Abahani-Mohammadan encounter on 12 April. Following a revision in the rules, the BCB reduced this suspension to one match, which Hridoy subsequently served. However, after another breach of conduct, the board reinstated the original punishment and imposed an additional four-match suspension, which includes the crucial final game against Abahani.

This ban means that Hridoy will not be available for the title-deciding match. Should Mohammadan win, they will be crowned champions. However, if both teams finish on equal points, Mohammadan will take the title due to their superior head-to-head record. If Mohammadan loses, Abahani will be crowned champions by a 4-point margin.
