BRAC University honours 57 faculty members for excellence in research publication
BRAC University has recognised 57 faculty members with the Quality Journal Publication Award 2025 for their contribution to impactful, high-quality research. The award ceremony was held on 24 April at the university's Merul Badda campus.
A total of 145 research papers were published by the awarded faculty members. Of these, 74 appeared in journals ranked within the top 10% of Q1 journals in Scopus, while the remaining 71 were placed in the top 15%.
Scopus, a leading multidisciplinary research database, is widely regarded for its coverage of peer-reviewed journals, conference literature and patent records. Journals in the Q1 quartile are globally recognised for their influence and academic rigour.

The honoured researchers explored a wide range of contemporary issues, including ease of doing business, mental health, emerging diseases, agriculture, food security, energy, climate change, language evolution, artificial intelligence, and blockchain applications in the ICT sector.
Recent research initiatives at BRAC University have received national and international acclaim. Notable contributions include studies on garment factories influencing global trade discussions, reimagined vaccine cold chains for enhanced food security, research on the Rohingya population sparking youth collaborations, and innovative solutions for the utilisation of elevated road infrastructure in megacities.
These achievements align with one of the university's key strategic pillars—'Research for Impact'—which seeks to generate knowledge from the Global South to address critical global challenges.
"BRAC University stands apart in a unique way—our core foundation in education and research is centred on human development," said Professor Syed Ferhat Anwar, Vice-Chancellor of BRAC University.
Professor Dr Md Saidur Rahman, Member of the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh, attended the event as chief guest. He highlighted the government's recognition of research-led institutions like BRAC University in building a knowledge-based society.
Dr Firdausi Qadri, Senior Scientist at icddr,b, and Professor Mustafizur Rahman, Distinguished Fellow at the Centre for Policy Dialogue, also spoke on the occasion.
