Bangladeshi dies from 'BSF torture' at Brahmanbaria border
A young man named Muradur Rahman, 35, died after allegedly being tortured by India's Border Security Force (BSF) at the Sejamura border in Paharpur union of Brahmanbaria's Bijoynagar upazila.
He passed away last night (8 April) at Brahmanbaria General Hospital.
Relatives of the deceased said Murad had gone near the Sejamura border around 5pm yesterday to check on his paddy field. At that time, several BSF members detained him from the border, brutally beat him, and left him severely injured inside Bangladesh territory.

Later in the evening, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel rescued him from the border area and handed him over to his family, they say.
Around 9:30pm, Murad was taken to Brahmanbaria General Hospital, where doctors declared him dead, according to the relatives.
Lieutenant Colonel Farah Mohammad Imtiaz, commander of BGB's 25th Battalion, said Murad had illegally crossed the border into India. It is not clear why he crossed the border, he added.
The family has accused the BSF of torturing him. BGB will contact the BSF and take necessary steps regarding the matter, he said.
