DU suspends 128 students over attacks on protesters during July uprising
The Dhaka University administration has temporarily expelled 128 students over alleged involvement in attacks on protesters between 15 July and 5 August last year during the mass uprising.
The decision was taken at a syndicate meeting of the university this afternoon (17 March) in light of a report of an investigation committee, a DU syndicate member told The Business Standard.
However, the names of suspended students will be disclosed later, the syndicate member added.
The suspended students are reportedly associated with banned student organisation Bangladesh Chhatra League, the student wing of Awami League.
Earlier, DU authorities formed an investigation committee, headed by syndicate member Professor Tajmeri S Islam, to identify the individuals who attacked protesters during the July 2024 student-people mass uprising.
