3-member probe committee formed over collision between trains at Rajshahi Railway Station

Railway authorities have formed a three-member probe committee over the collision between intercity train Dhumketu Express and Banglabandha Express at Rajshahi Railway Station yesterday (15 March).
The committee, which was formed around 10pm last night, has been asked to submit its probe report within three working days, said Assistant Chief Operating Superintendent Abdul Awal.
The three members of the committee are - Divisional Transport Officer Hasina Khatun, Mechanical Engineer Ashish Kumar Mondol and Divisional Engineer-2 Birbal Mondol.
Earlier around 1:45pm yesterday, a collision took place between Banglabandha Express, which was coming towards the station from the wash pit, and Dhumketu Express, which was going towards the wash pit from the station, due to an issue at the signal point, said railway sources.
The accident resulted in the derailment of two coaches and damage to four bogies of the two trains.
Later in the afternoon, a rescue train removed the colliding trains from the rail tracks. The damaged rail tracks were also repaired during this time.
The train movement became normal around 7pm, according to railway sources.
