The interim government has appointed journalist Monir Haidar as special assistant (Building Consensus) of Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus.

The decision was made public through a circular issued by the Ministry of Public Administration yesterday (5 February), reported Prothom Alo.

The circular, signed by deputy secretary of the ministry Abul Hayat Md Rafique, said Monir has been appointed contractually for six months.

Monir has been appointed on the condition that he will forego any other professional attachments, including jobs or businesses, and relationships with government, semi-government or non-government organisations, the circular said.

The circular added that Monir's status as a special assistant will be similar to a senior secretary.

Other conditions of this appointment will be fixed based on the contract, the circular added.
