NBR's two divisions, health sector reforms among proposals approved by Nicar
This was the first Nicar meeting held during the tenure of the interim government.
The National Implementation Committee for Administrative Reforms (Nicar) yesterday (20 January) approved a proposal to establish two administrative divisions – the Revenue Policy Division and the Revenue Management Division – aimed at improving transparency, accountability and efficiency in revenue collection and management.
The decision was taken at Nicar's 119th meeting, held at the official residence of Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus, Jamuna, with him in the chair. It was the first Nicar meeting under the interim government.
After the meeting, CA's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam briefed the media at the Foreign Service Academy in the afternoon. A total of 11 proposals related to administrative reorganisation were approved at the meeting, reports UNB.
According to the Chief Adviser's press wing, the Revenue Policy and Revenue Management Ordinance, 2025, has already been issued.
Advisers, secretaries and senior secretaries of the government, including the cabinet secretary and the principal secretary, were present at the meeting.
The committee also approved a proposal to restructure the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare by merging the Health Services Division and the Health Education and Family Welfare Division.
Another decision cleared the way for changing the Bangla name of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs to "Nari O Shishu Mantranalay" from "Mohila O Shishu Bishayak Mantranaloy". However, the English name of the ministry will remain unchanged.
Considering environmental, tourism and economic factors, Nicar approved a proposal to upgrade Satkhira district from a 'B' category to an 'A' category district.
The meeting also approved proposals to establish three new police stations: Purbachal North in Gazipur district, Purbachal South in Narayanganj district, and Matarbari in Cox's Bazar district.
In addition, a new police station will be set up by splitting the existing Raipura police station in Narsingdi district.
Nicar also approved a proposal to correct the spelling of the name of the Bhulli police station in Thakurgaon district.
