Earlier, Hujjatul Islam Khan, the brother of Sabur, who was killed in Ashulia on 5 August, and the lawyer of victim Sajal's mother, filed a complaint over the deaths with the investigation agency of the ICT on 11 September.

The complaint states that after Hasina fled on 5 August, at approximately 4:30pm, all police members of Ashulia Police Station in Dhaka district and members of Dhaka DB North, on the orders of the then prime minister and those accused, opened fire on jubilating students, killing As-Sabur, Abdul Mannan, Mizanur Rahman, Tanjil Mahmud Sujoy, Sajjad Hossain Sajal and Bayezid.

The victim's bodies were burned in front of Ashulia Police Station, the complaint said.
