According to the prosecution, six people – labourer Ashraful Islam, Suruj Ali Babu, student Abdullah Al Mustakin, Usama, businessman Bablu Foraji and employee Yusuf Sheikh – were killed in Kushtia town during the July uprising
The verdict in the crimes against humanity case against former minister Hasanul Haq Inu is now expected any day after the prosecution and defence concluded their arguments before the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) over the killing of six people in Kushtia during the July Uprising.
The hearing was held today (14 May) before a three-member panel of ICT-2 led by Justice Nazrul Islam Chowdhury.
The prosecution team included Prosecutors Faruk Ahmed and Abdus Sattar Palowan, among others, while the defence was represented by lawyers Monsurul Haque Chowdhury, Sifat Mahmud Shuvo and Abul Hasan.
The tribunal did not set a specific date for delivering the verdict after concluding the rebuttal arguments, meaning the judgment could be announced on any day.
The defence had begun presenting its closing arguments on 2 April, followed by submissions from the prosecution.
According to the prosecution, six people – labourer Ashraful Islam, Suruj Ali Babu, student Abdullah Al Mustakin, Usama, businessman Bablu Foraji and employee Yusuf Sheikh – were killed in Kushtia town during the July uprising. Several others were also injured.
The prosecution later filed formal charges against Inu on eight specific allegations, including incitement, provocation and conspiracy related to the violence.
