Dr Khalilur Rahman, the high representative of Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus on the Rohingya issue and other key priorities, is currently participating in the ongoing Doha Forum.

The Bangladesh delegation, led by Khalilur Rahman, includes Bangladesh Ambassador to Qatar Md Nazrul Islam, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs Director General (West Asia) Md Shafiqur Rahman.

The 22nd Doha Forum, hosted by the Qatar government, began today (7 December) under the theme "The Innovation Imperative: Diplomacy, Dialogue, Diversity."

The two-day event will conclude tomorrow.

Thousands of delegates from nearly a hundred countries attended the opening ceremony, which was graced by the presence of the emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani.

The opening speech was delivered by the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani.

Yesterday, Khalilur Rahman attended an award ceremony as the chief guest for a badminton tournament organised by expatriate Bangladeshis in Doha to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and Qatar.

During the event, he gratefully remembered the contributions of expatriate Bangladeshis during the July-August mass uprising and awarded prizes to the winners.

He informed the expatriates about various reform initiatives undertaken by the interim government.

Referring to expatriates as crucial partners in the country's development, he said, "Remittances sent by expatriates play a significant role in the country's socio-economic development, especially in addressing the current challenges in the financial sector."

Meanwhile, the high representative has a schedule to participate as a panel speaker in various important sessions of the Doha Forum, and to meet with several important dignitaries, including the deputy minister of International Cooperation of Qatar.
