Qatar 'strongly condemns' attack on US air base
Qatar's government has offered its "strong condemnation" of the attack on the al-Udeid Air Base.

Majed al-Ansari, official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, wrote on X: "We consider this a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of the State of Qatar, its airspace, international law, and the United Nations charter."
He said Qatar's air defence systems "successfully thwarted the attack and intercepted the Iranian missiles" and the base had been evacuated earlier.
The Iranian attack on the US airbase in Qatar resulted confusion, and then some fear. But no damage, or injuries in the city. So, everything got back to normal quickly. We are doing okay, as usual…Hope that it was a calculated and calibrated strike, a symbolic one so that there is no more escalation.
He added, "All necessary steps were taken to ensure the safety of personnel at the base, including Qatari Armed Forces members, friendly forces, and others.

"We confirm that no injuries or human casualties resulted from the attack."
The spokesperson said Qatar reserves the right to respond "in a manner equivalent with the nature and scale of this brazen aggression".
Trump holds National Security Council meeting
In Washington, Donald Trump will be attending a National Security Council meeting, after the White House earlier said he was "simply raising a question" in floating the idea of regime change in Iran.
It comes as Israel said it is targeting Tehran with "unprecedented force", including attacks on "access routes" to the Fordo nuclear site and Evin prison.
The White House has confirmed that Gen Dan Caine - the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff - and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth are currently in the White House Situation Room.
These two men are the highest civilian and military leaders in the US defence establishment and report to President Trump as Commander-in-Chief of the military.
It is unclear whether the previously announced National Security Council meeting has begun as planned, reports BBC.

When explosions were first heard
Explosions were heard over Qatar's capital Doha on Monday, a Reuters witness reported, shortly after a Western diplomat said there had been a credible Iranian threat against the US-run al Udeid air base in the Gulf Arab state since midday.
