Unilever Consumer Care approves Tk150cr loan facility for Unilever Bangladesh; Q2 earnings decline
The company said in its price-sensitive statement filed with the Dhaka bourse today (29 July) that the facility will remain available for 24 months, with each drawdown limited to a maximum tenure of six months.
Unilever Consumer Care Ltd has approved, in principle, an unsecured intercompany loan facility of up to Tk150 crore in favour of related party Unilever Bangladesh Limited (UBL) to support its working capital requirements.
The company said in its price-sensitive statement filed with the Dhaka bourse today (29 July) that the facility will remain available for 24 months, with each drawdown limited to a maximum tenure of six months.
The loan will be extended on arm's-length terms, it added.
Separately, the company reported a sharp decline in profitability for the second quarter and first half of 2026.
Earnings per share (EPS) fell to Tk4.04 for the April–June 2026 quarter from Tk12.62 in the corresponding period a year earlier.
For the January–June period, EPS declined to Tk10.33 from Tk19.78 a year ago.
The company attributed the fall in earnings primarily to lower sales and the absence of a one-off gain recorded in the base year following the reassessment of trademark and technology royalty obligations.
Net asset value (NAV) per share declined to Tk84.62 as of 30 June, from Tk94.61 a year earlier, reflecting the declaration and payment of the FY2025 dividend during the period.
The board has also appointed Ruhul Quddus Khan as chairman for a three-year term effective 28 July.
In addition, Samsuddoha Nayeem has been appointed as head of finance, while Sharmin Akter has been appointed company secretary.
