The World Union of Small and Medium Enterprise (WUSME) has nominated Dr Md Sabur Khan, chairman of Daffodil International University and Daffodil Family, as its ambassador to Bangladesh.

With the nomination, Bangladesh SMEs from now on will get better access to the WUSME, said a Daffodil International University (DIU) press release Thursday.

The WUSME is an international non-profit organisation with the mission to protect, support and represent small and medium-sized enterprises and crafts worldwide. It aims to contribute to a new paradigm of growth based on SMEs as a driving force for each country and society to reach a substantial, inclusive and sustainable social progress.

Through the new connection, Bangladesh has entered one of the largest SME platforms which will open new scopes before the country's small businesses. The country's SMEs will have better connectivity to the global community, get a platform to showcase their products and services, and share their success stories, said the press release.

Dr Sabur Khan is the High Commissioner of World Business Angels Investment Forum (WBAF) to Bangladesh and one of the global board members of WBAF's Science, Technology and Innovation Commission.

He is the vice-president of the Association of Universities of Asia & the Pacific (AUAP) and also the Standing Committee Member of the AUPF.

Previously, Dr Khan served the World Information Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA) as the director and was also the chairman of WITSA Global Trade Committee. He was the president of The Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry for 2013 and also the former president of Bangladesh Computer Samity.
