Educators honoured for lifelong service to education

To mark World Teachers' Day 2025, a discussion titled "Ongoing Crisis and Solutions in the Education Sector" was held at the ATN Bangla studio on Wednesday, 15 October.
The event was jointly organised by ATN Bangla's programme "Somoyer Sathe" and the Bangladesh Chhatra Kallyan Trust.
In recognition of their outstanding performance and lifelong contributions to education, two eminent educationists – Professor Dr ABM Obaidul Islam, Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh Open University, and Professor Dr Farid Ahmed Sobhani, Vice-Chancellor of Eastern University – were honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Principal Noor Alam Talukder, Managing Director of the Bangladesh Chhatra Kallyan Trust and Director of Palli Sanchay Bank, presented commemorative mementos to the award recipients. The event was also attended by Md Khalilur Rahman, Programme Director of ATN Bangla's "Somoyer Sathe" and Editor of Education Watch.
The awardees expressed that this recognition would further inspire their ongoing work in education and social development. The initiative was widely praised as a symbolic gesture of gratitude towards educators who have dedicated their lives to advancing Bangladesh's education sector.
