Walton named most sustainable electronics maker at SDG awards
Walton, Bangladesh's tech giant and a homegrown super brand, has won three honours at the SDG Brand Champion Awards 2025, affirming its commitment to sustainability and green innovation in the electronics sector.
At the third edition of the awards ceremony, held on Saturday, 12 July, at the Radisson Blu Water Garden Hotel, Dhaka, Walton was recognised in the following categories:
- SDG Brand Champion – Most Sustainable Electronic Item Manufacturing Company of the Year
- SDG Brand Champion – Affordable and Clean Energy
- Honourable Mention – Climate and Environment
The awards were presented by the Bangladesh Brand Forum, in collaboration with the Bangladesh Innovation Conclave and the Sustainable Brand Initiative, to acknowledge organisations that make significant contributions towards achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Bangladesh.

S M Mahbubul Alam, Managing Director of Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC, received the accolades on behalf of the company.
Reacting to the recognition, he said:
"We are delighted to be honoured with three SDG Brand Champion Awards. On behalf of the entire Walton family, I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the Bangladesh Brand Forum and all those involved. Walton is committed to producing world-class, energy-efficient, and environment-friendly electronics and electrical goods."
He added that Walton has embraced state-of-the-art green technologies and practices in its manufacturing operations. The company's initiatives aligned with the SDGs include:
- Setting up a rooftop solar project and Bangladesh's largest floating solar power plant (1 MW capacity)
- Using CFC- and HCFC-free refrigerants
- Recycling plastic, metal, and waste materials
- Reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions
- Promoting energy-efficient technologies and composting
These sustainability measures have also earned Walton the 'Green Factory Award' for the second time this year, in addition to the National Environment Award 2018.
The SDG Brand Champion Awards aim to spotlight private sector initiatives that are accelerating Bangladesh's progress toward the 2030 SDG targets.
