Unilever Bangladesh wins FICCI Sustainability Game Changer Award
Unilever Bangladesh Limited (UBL), the country's leading fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) company, has been honoured with the Foreign Investors' Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) Sustainability Game Changer Award 2025, as Champion in the Community Impact category, for its transformative initiatives implemented in 2024.
The recognition celebrates UBL's leadership in driving large-scale community impact through purpose-led programmes that improve health, hygiene, livelihoods, empowerment, and environmental resilience, while also supporting national crisis response efforts. The award reflects the company's continued commitment to building a purposeful, equitable, and future-fit organisation for Bangladesh.
UBL's community initiatives reach people across the country through inclusive, system-driven models. These include the Lifebuoy Friendship Hospital, which provides healthcare in climate-affected char areas; public sanitation projects with Bhumijo; plastic waste management reforms in Chattogram; and livelihood and retail empowerment programmes that uplift over 1.3 million small businesses and 3,000 waste workers. Each initiative blends purpose with partnership to create measurable, lasting impact.
With over six decades of presence in Bangladesh, Unilever serves millions daily through more than twenty trusted brands, guided by its purpose to "Brighten Everyday Life for All". Its community programmes have already touched over 120 million lives, advancing long-term, inclusive growth.
Ruhul Quddus Khan, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of UBL, said, "At Unilever Bangladesh, sustainability is at the heart of how we operate and grow. Guided by our Growth Action Plan (GAP) 2030, we are committed to creating positive change through four key pillars: climate, nature, plastics, and livelihoods.
"This recognition as a FICCI Sustainability Game Changer in Community Impact reflects our collective effort to uplift the communities we serve. True sustainability is achieved when growth uplifts everyone, and we will continue to work hand in hand with our partners to build scalable, enduring impact rooted in purpose."
Ruhul Quddus Khan and Shamima Akhter, Director of Corporate Affairs, Partnerships, and Communications, received the award on behalf of UBL.
Earlier this year, Unilever Bangladesh was also named "Most Sustainable Company of the Year" at the SDG Brand Champions Award 2025, in addition to winning six other honours for its sustainability and community initiatives.
