Police recover iPhone stolen from Apratim from detained Tuhin's home

Police have recovered the iPhone stolen from 13-year-old Ishiyat Shahriar Apratim, before he was murdered, from the home of Tuhin, one of three youths detained in connection with the boy's death in Cumilla.
Inspector Mafiz Uddin Bhuiya, in-charge of the Comilla Kotbari police outpost, confirmed the recovery to The Daily Star early today (20 September).

He said district police raided Tuhin's home in Sananda in the Lalmai hills, near Cumilla University, and recovered the phone.
Apratim, a Class VII student at Cumilla Border Guard Public School and the son of a Cumilla University teacher, had been missing since Friday afternoon. His body was found in the Sananda area at around 1pm yesterday.
Comilla Sadar Dakshin Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Rakibul Islam identified the three detainees as Tuhin, Anas and Fahim.
"Tuhin was arrested at around 3:30pm today. CCTV footage showed Tuhin with Apratim in the Cumilla University campus area, where they stayed for about an hour," the OC said.
Anas was detained at around 7pm, while Fahim was picked up about 30 minutes later, he said.
"The suspects Tuhin, Anas and Fahim have been detained for questioning. Our drive is currently ongoing," he added.
Police are now questioning the three youths and examining CCTV footage as they investigate the circumstances surrounding Apratim's death.
The recovery of the iPhone from Tuhin's residence has also become a key development in the investigation.
