Star Tech's unstoppable journey: from a tiny shop to Bangladesh’s tech powerhouse

In 2007, four visionaries—Md Rashed Ali Bhuyian, Mazharul Alam, Mahabub Alam Rakib, and Mohammad Jahed Ali Bhuyian—embarked on a mission to empower Bangladesh through technology. What started as a modest 100-square-foot shop has transformed into Star Tech Ltd, Bangladesh's largest and most trusted tech retailer, a name synonymous with quality, reliability, and customer-first service.

From humble beginnings to industry leadership

When Star Tech first opened its doors, it operated on a simple principle: ensuring customer satisfaction by delivering trustworthy tech solutions. With limited resources and frequent power outages, challenges were abundant, but the founders' commitment to their vision remained unshaken.

"Our vision has always been to provide high-quality products and unmatched service, ensuring customers can trust and rely on us," says co-founder Md Rashed Ali Bhuyian.

Initially catering to gaming enthusiasts with custom PCs and accessories, Star Tech's reputation quickly grew through word-of-mouth. Their customer-centric approach became their hallmark, setting them apart from competitors focused solely on sales.

Over time, the company diversified its offerings, bringing international brands to its shelves and expanding its reach across Bangladesh. Today, with over 20 outlets, including their state-of-the-art 4,400 sq. ft. showroom in Mymensingh, Star Tech continues to redefine what it means to be a tech retailer in Bangladesh.

The e-commerce revolution: tech for everyone

Recognising the shift towards digital, Star Tech ventured into e-commerce in 2017. This move transformed the way Bangladeshis shop for technology. Through their user-friendly website and Bangladesh's first tech retail app (available for iOS and Android), Star Tech ensures that everyone, regardless of location, has access to the latest gadgets and expert advice.

Md Sajedur Rahman, Director of Web, Media, and E-Commerce, highlights this impact:
"Our e-commerce platform bridges the gap between urban hubs and rural areas, ensuring that technology is accessible to everyone. It's not just about selling products but also empowering users with knowledge."

What about reliability?

One common question customers ask is whether Star Tech's online services are trustworthy. The answer is a resounding yes. With over 100,000 daily visitors, the platform offers secure payment options, detailed specifications, and expert reviews, making the purchasing process seamless. During the COVID-19 lockdown, their online platform saw a 180% increase in sales, proving its robustness and dependability.

Customer-centric services: putting people first

Star Tech's focus on customer satisfaction doesn't stop after a sale. Their after-sales services are unmatched in the industry. They resolve over 1,000 technical issues monthly via their free hotline and fulfil 300+ in-home service requests every month.

Planning to launch nationwide home services by 2025, Star Tech ensures even the most remote areas benefit from professional tech support. Customers frequently ask about the types of assistance available, and Star Tech delivers: from troubleshooting laptops to setting up gaming rigs, their team is always ready to help.

Need tech advice?

If you're unsure about which product suits your needs—be it a laptop for education, a PC for gaming, or even a smartwatch—Star Tech's in-store and online experts are always available to guide you. Their commitment to customer education ensures you get the best value for your money.

Beyond retail: making a national impact

Star Tech's influence extends far beyond individual consumers. Their corporate wing, Star Tech & Engineering Ltd, has played a pivotal role in major national projects, including:

  • The Metrorail's Automatic Fare Collection system
  • Automation projects at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University
  • Hardware solutions for the Bangladesh Armed Forces

By collaborating with global giants like HP, Lenovo, and Dell, and achieving ISO 9001:2015 certification, Star Tech has become a trusted partner in both the public and private sectors.

Shaping Bangladesh's tech future

As Star Tech looks to the future, its ambitions remain bold. The company plans to expand its retail footprint further, enhance its e-commerce capabilities, and launch a "Home Tech Service" to ensure installations, repairs, and troubleshooting are accessible nationwide.

"Our mission is to ensure that technology becomes an integral part of every Bangladeshi's life, regardless of where they live," said Md Rashed Ali Bhuyian.

Why Star Tech matters

For many Bangladeshis, technology can be daunting, especially when it comes to choosing the right product. Whether you're asking, "What's the best gaming laptop for my budget?" or "Where can I find reliable after-sales support for my PC?" Star Tech provides the answers.

By combining trustworthiness, innovation, and accessibility, Star Tech Ltd has redefined what it means to lead in the tech retail industry. They're not just selling gadgets—they're building connections and empowering communities across Bangladesh.

Their 17-year journey, from a tiny shop to a tech powerhouse, is a testament to the transformative power of vision, perseverance, and unwavering customer focus. As Star Tech continues to innovate, it's clear that the future of technology in Bangladesh is in capable hands.
