Sputnik Cosmosfest 2025 inspires young minds in Dhaka
To mark the 68th anniversary of the launch of the world's first artificial Earth satellite, Sputnik-1, the Russian House in Dhaka organised a two-day event entitled 'Sputnik Cosmosfest 2025'.
Held on 30–31 October, in collaboration with the Serov Academy of Fine Arts and the Bangladesh Astronomical Association, the festival featured a range of educational and creative activities aimed at inspiring young people in science, space, and discovery.
The programme included a rocket model-making workshop, an astronomy camp, a thematic space documentary screening, and a painting competition entitled 'Space Through My Eyes', where children artistically expressed their imaginations of the universe.
More than 200 students from various educational institutions across Bangladesh participated in the festival, showcasing their enthusiasm and creativity.
At the closing ceremony, Alexandra A Khlevnoy, Director of the Russian House in Dhaka, presented certificates and mementoes to the young participants, commending their curiosity and vision for the future of space exploration.
'Sputnik Cosmosfest 2025' served as a vibrant platform to ignite scientific curiosity among schoolchildren, while celebrating the historic launch of Sputnik-1 – humanity's first step into space.
