UBER launches hybrid subscriptions for bike drivers in Bangladesh
Uber has rolled out Hybrid Subscriptions for its Uber Bike drivers in Bangladesh, introducing a flexible model designed to enhance driver earnings and increase platform engagement amid a competitive bike-hailing market.
The new subscription framework allows drivers to select a model tailored to their individual needs, streamlining operations for both full-time and part-time partners.
This launch builds on Uber's 2023 subscription model in Dhaka and targets improved experiences for drivers and riders alike, while incentivising platform-based journeys.
Off-platform street-hailing continues to challenge the bike-hailing sector in Dhaka. Such trips forgo critical protections, including GPS tracking, insurance coverage, and in-app safety features.
Uber expects Hybrid Subscriptions to boost rider reliability and reduce offline trips by providing drivers with flexible access to platform opportunities.
Drivers benefit from 0% commission on trips, enabling them to retain full earnings while selecting a subscription structure aligned with their driving patterns.
Uber states the model will deliver increased earning opportunities and flexibility, particularly for part-time drivers.
Country Head for Bangladesh, Nasheed Ferdous Kamal, said: 'We are committed to enhancing the driver experience on our platform. The introduction of hybrid subscriptions offers our driver-partners greater flexibility and earning potential by empowering them to choose the model best suited to their needs.
'By encouraging more trips to occur on the Uber platform, we also aim to bolster reliability and improve safety for riders across Dhaka.'
Uber notes that tens of thousands of Uber Bike driver-partners operate daily on Dhaka's roads. The company says continued product innovation remains central to its mission of improving experiences for both drivers and riders whilst reinforcing safety and accountability for app-based trips.
