Remians members protest to demand safer society
Remians Cultural Club members staged a symbolic candlelight protest on Thursday from their respective hometowns, denouncing recent incidents of rape, sexual violence, and abuse against women and children nationwide.
With members dispersed across Bangladesh for the Eid holidays, the protest was held individually, with participants lighting candles and sharing messages calling for humanity, awareness, and social responsibility.
The initiative follows a series of incidents involving women and children that have sparked public concern and renewed debate over their safety and protection.
Through this peaceful demonstration, the organisation expressed solidarity with victims and underscored the urgent need for heightened social awareness and collective responsibility to address violence and safeguard vulnerable groups.
Nahiyan Zaman Sammo, President of Remians Cultural Club, said, "A single candle may seem small, but together these lights become a symbol of resistance against darkness, fear, and inhumanity."
Organisation representatives noted that cultural bodies have responsibilities extending beyond artistic activities and entertainment.
They added that culture embodies empathy, ethical consciousness, and the courage to support humanity during challenging times.
The organisation further emphasised the importance of fostering a society where every child can grow up safely and every woman can live with dignity, security, and respect.
Remians Cultural Club reaffirmed its commitment to advancing constructive cultural and social initiatives to promote awareness, compassion, and positive values among young people.
