Shahinul Islam joins Islamic Arabic University to serve as treasurer
Islamic Arabic University has appointed Shahinul Islam, a retired Additional Secretary, as its new treasurer, effective immediately.
He assumed office on Thursday, 21 May 2026, following a notification from the Secondary and Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education.
The appointment, confirmed by official notification, is for a four-year term.
As per the terms of the appointment, he will receive the salary and benefits attached to the post and will be based on campus full-time.
Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Mohammad Abu Zafar welcomed the new treasurer upon his assumption of duties.
The event was attended by Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Mohammad Shahidul Islam, Acting Registrar Fahad Ahmed Momtaji, Professor Md Nawser Ali, Director of Planning and Development, Deputy Director Md Ziaur Rahman, and other officials from the relevant departments.
Shahinul Islam is a career civil servant from the BCS administration cadre, batch of 1985.
Over his career, he has held key positions in field administration and various ministries.
In field administration, he served as Upazila Nirbahi Officer, Additional Deputy Commissioner, and Deputy Commissioner.
He also served as Senior Assistant Secretary, Deputy Secretary, Joint Secretary, and Additional Secretary in multiple ministries.
He holds BSS (Hons) and MSS degrees in Public Administration from Dhaka University.
He also earned a Diploma in Administration from the University of Birmingham, UK.
He was born in Ulipur upazila, Kurigram district.
