Russian House in Dhaka honours soviet-educated Bangladeshis

The Russian House in Dhaka hosted a seminar on June 19, 2025, to celebrate the contributions of Soviet and Russian university graduates to Bangladesh's socio-economic development.
The event highlighted the long-standing legacy of academic cooperation between Bangladesh and Russia, with speakers noting that thousands of Bangladeshi professionals trained in Soviet and Russian institutions have played pivotal roles in the country's industry, science, healthcare, and culture.
Welcoming remarks underscored the importance of academic exchange as a catalyst for the growth of critical sectors in Bangladesh. The speakers acknowledged that these graduates continue to serve as bridges of friendship and knowledge exchange between the two nations.
As part of the programme, attendees were treated to an art exhibition showcasing reproductions from the Russian "Silver Age", supported by the Rosatom State Corporation in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of Russia's nuclear industry.
The seminar brought together participants from a wide range of sectors, including government and public institutions, academia, cultural organisations, students, and members of the Soviet Alumni Association of Bangladesh.
Through this event, the Russian House reaffirmed its commitment to deepening educational, scientific and cultural ties between Bangladesh and Russia while honouring the legacy of Soviet-educated professionals who have significantly shaped Bangladesh's development journey.
