Professor Dr ABM Obaidul Islam elected AAGUB President

Professor Dr ABM Obaidul Islam has been elected as the President of the Alumni Association of German Universities in Bangladesh (AAGUB) for the 2025-26 term. The recent executive committee election selected new leadership to enhance academic and professional collaboration among Bangladeshi graduates of German universities.

Dr Abdullah Al Mamun Khan, an eminent dental surgeon and Associate Professor of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at City Dental College, has been elected as the General Secretary. The newly elected committee also includes Dr Md Abul Hashem as Vice-President, Dr Md Nazmul Haque as Treasurer, and Dr M Abul Manzoor Khan as Joint Secretary. Professor Dr Muhammad Ali Hossain will serve as the Education & Research Secretary, while Mohammad Rasel Kabir has been appointed as the Cultural & Publications Secretary.

The executive members for the new term are Professor Dr M Tofazzal Islam, Dr Borhan Uddin, Dr Engineer Md Humayun Kabir, Dr Mohammad Mahir Uddin, A N M Zobayer, Dr Jamilur Rahman, and Professor Dr Humayun Kabir. Additionally, the outgoing executive committee's ex-officio members, Dr Anwar Zahid (former President) and Professor Dr M Nazmus Sadat (former General Secretary), will continue to contribute to the organisation.

Founded in 1973, AAGUB serves as a platform for Bangladeshi alumni of German universities, fostering academic exchange, professional networking, and collaboration in various fields. The newly elected leadership aims to strengthen the association's role in promoting partnerships and expanding opportunities for its members.
