Vice Chancellor of Bangladesh Open University visits India

Vice Chancellor of Bangladesh Open University, Professor Dr A B M Obaidul Islam, at the invitation of the Commonwealth of Learning (COL), Commonwealth Education Media Centre for Asia (CEMAC) and Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University, Nashik (YCMOU), participated in various high-level meetings held at the Commonwealth Educational Media Centre, Central Institute of Educational Technology (CITE), Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) and National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) in Delhi on 4 and 5 March 2025.
Also, as part of the visit, he attended the 4th Round Table Conference-2025 held on March 6 and 7 at the Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University, Nashik, Maharashtra, with the Vice-Chancellors of Indian Open Universities, the Vice-Chancellors of Sri Lanka Open University and the Vice-Chancellors of Allama Iqbal Open University of Pakistan. In his speech at the conference, he highlighted various aspects of the overall education activities of Bangladesh Open University, including improving the quality of open and distance education, expanding technology-based education and strengthening international educational cooperation. It is expected that the Vice-Chancellor's visit to India of Bangladesh Open University: New horizons of international education cooperation will be opened.
Through this visit, Bangladesh Open University's international connections have been further strengthened, and new directions have been found for conducting world-class open and distance education programs. In the future, this cooperation will expand technology-based education and create opportunities for more modern and effective management of the distance education system in Bangladesh. During his visit to India, Vice-Chancellor Professor Obaidul Islam was presented with crests and honours by the respective Open Universities at various meetings.
