Prime Banks school banking conference-2025 held in Rajshahi
Prime Bank PLC, in collaboration with all scheduled banks operating in Rajshahi, successfully organised the School Banking Conference-2025 at the Rajshahi Zila Parishad auditorium on May 17, 2025, aiming to foster financial literacy and promote the habit of savings among school students to address the financial inclusion guidelines of Bangladesh Bank.
The conference witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 400 students, teachers representing various schools across the district, and representatives of local banks. The event served as a platform to inspire the next generation to develop sound financial habits from an early age.
The conference's objectives are to cultivate a habit of saving among students, provide a basic understanding of the banking system, raise awareness about digital banking and the use of technology, and offer guidance on future financial planning and decision-making.
M Nazeem A Choudhury, Deputy Managing Director of Prime Bank PLC, presided over the conference. In his remarks, he emphasised the importance of cultivating a savings mindset and financial responsibility among young people. He said, `Financial education for students is not just a skill, it is the foundation of future economic stability. Today's students are the driving force of tomorrow's economy. Our responsibility is to guide them properly and introduce them to the banking system. This conference will provide students with a deeper understanding of the importance of banking and saving. I firmly believe that today's discussions will positively impact their future planning and help them move toward financial independence.'
The event was graced by Husne Ara Shikha, Executive Director and Head of the Rajshahi Office, Bangladesh Bank, as the Chief Guest. In her address, she emphasised the pivotal role of school banking in building a financially inclusive society and empowering young people.
Earlier, Qazi Mutmainna Tahmida, Additional Director of the Financial Inclusion Department at the Bangladesh Bank Head Office, emphasised the need to create an exceptional experience for students entering banking at any bank. As a Special guest, the District Education Officer, Md. Abdul Wahab also emphasised savings practices from school life for a solvent future of the student.
All Speakers at the conference elaborated on the benefits of school banking and offered practical guidance to help students embrace innovative financial practices to secure their future.
During the session, Mahmudul Hasan, Assistant Director of the Financial Inclusion Department at the Bangladesh Bank's Head Office, conducted a quiz session among the students, and gifts were distributed to the winners.
Shaila Abedin, Head of Liability of Prime Bank, received the Lead Bank Appreciation Award from the chief guest on behalf of Prime Bank: the Regional Head, Md. Abdul Halim was present, along with other high-ranking bank officials.
After the ward and recognition ceremony, Prime Bank presented 'Prime First Puppet Show' to the audience as a new experience of the School Banking Conference.
After completing all the formalities, M. M. Mahbub Hasan, Head of Financial Inclusion and School Banking at Prime Bank PLC, expressed his gratitude to all participants, partner institutions, and stakeholders for their support in making the event a success.
