DSCC holds coordination meeting to expedite disposal of cases
To expedite the disposal of 1,319 ongoing cases, Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) held a coordination meeting with its panel lawyers.
The meeting was held on Tuesday at Nagar Bhaban, with Chief Executive Officer Md Jahirul Islam in the chair. DSCC Administrator Md Mahmudul Hasan, NDC, attended the meeting as the chief guest.
Of the total cases involving DSCC, 954 are pending in the higher courts and 365 in the lower courts, bringing the total number of ongoing cases to 1,319.
During the meeting, lawyers engaged in DSCC-related cases presented updates on the progress of the ongoing litigation. Discussions were also held on measures required to ensure the swift disposal of cases while safeguarding public interest. The lawyers proposed the introduction of a digital document management system to ensure proper and systematic preservation of case-related information.
It was decided that public interest cases, including those related to market construction, would be given priority in the disposal process.
In his remarks, the DSCC administrator said, "For the first time, a coordination meeting has been organised with the learned panel lawyers to ensure the speedy disposal of ongoing cases in the interest of DSCC and the public." He expressed hope that through close coordination and effective action, cases could be resolved swiftly and fairly, ultimately benefiting city residents.
Panel lawyers thanked the DSCC authorities for arranging the coordination meeting. Around 50 participants, including panel lawyers and departmental heads of DSCC, were present at the meeting.
