Prime Bank holds inclusion session for people with disabilities
Prime Bank PLC organised a special session titled 'From Access to Empowerment: Advancing Banking for Persons with Disabilities' in collaboration with Team Inclusion Bangladesh in Savar, Dhaka, as part of its efforts to build a barrier-free and inclusive banking ecosystem.
At the event, cheque books and debit cards were distributed among visually impaired customers, enabling them to carry out financial transactions more independently. The bank also facilitated instant account opening for people with different physical disabilities, helping bring them into the formal financial system.
Delivering the keynote address, Prime Bank Senior Vice President and Head of Financial Inclusion and School Banking, M M Mahbub Hasan, said that inclusive banking is a responsibility, not a choice.
'We are redesigning the banking experience to ensure accessibility for all. Prime Bank has introduced financial literacy books in Braille on consumer and SME banking, which are being distributed among visually impaired people. Our initiative to introduce wheelchair-friendly cash service counters in newly opened and renovated branches has also been widely appreciated. In addition, the sign language video call service for customers with hearing and speech impairments, launched by Prime Bank, received a national fintech award last year,' he said.
Among others, Senior Vice President and Head of Consumer Protection and Service Quality Kazi Reshad Mahboob and Head of Hemayetpur Branch Md Shakhawoat Houssain attended the programme.
Md Jahirul Islam, founder and executive director of Team Inclusion Bangladesh, praised the initiative, saying that Prime Bank's inclusive approach, combining financial literacy, technology, and accessible infrastructure, had set an important benchmark for the banking industry. He also expressed hope of continued collaboration with the bank in the future.
Prime Bank has said it continues to align its initiatives with Bangladesh Bank's financial inclusion guidelines to ensure access to formal banking services for all citizens. By expanding services for unbanked and underserved communities through inclusive infrastructure, innovative solutions, and financial literacy programmes, the bank has said it remains committed to advancing financial inclusion across the country.
