‘Parallels’ showcases eight architectural studios at aloki in Dhaka
'Parallels' brings together eight contemporary architectural practices from Dhaka in a group exhibition that explores the evolving culture of architectural practice in the city.
Conceived as a book of eight short stories without text or illustration, the exhibition communicates through three-dimensional works that present visual narratives shaped by lived experiences and spontaneous expression.
Each participating practice offers a self-portrait of its ideas, processes, and body of work. Viewed collectively, these individual voices sketch a broader picture of Dhaka's architectural landscape, grounded in shared contexts yet defined by distinct professional trajectories.
The eight studios share formative experiences such as mentorship, teaching, competitions and camaraderie. Despite global exposure, they remain rooted in Dhaka. 'Parallels' marks a moment of reflection at the midpoint of their professional journeys, inviting audiences to engage with the underlying ethos of their practices and the creative spirit of a generation.
