ONE Bank signs deal with BB under Tk5,000cr refinance fund for CMSMEs
ONE Bank PLC has signed a participation agreement with Bangladesh Bank under the central bank's Tk5,000 crore working capital refinance fund, enabling low-interest loans to cottage, micro, small, and medium enterprises (CMSMEs).
The initiative aims to disburse soft-term working capital financing to CMSMEs, helping bridge funding shortfalls and reinforce the sector's operational resilience, according to a press release.
The agreement was recently signed at Bangladesh Bank headquarters in the capital, in the presence of Bangladesh Bank Deputy Governor Md Anis Ur Rahman.
Bangladesh Bank's Director of the SME and Special Programmes Department, Md Zabdul Islam, and ONE Bank PLC's Deputy Managing Director and Head of Financial Services and Public Sector, Kazi Ziaul Islam, signed the deal on behalf of their respective organisations.
The ceremony was also attended by Bangladesh Bank Executive Director Nahid Rahman and Additional Director Shahahnaj Pervin, along with ONE Bank PLC Senior Executive Vice President and Head of Commercial and SME Business, Newaz Khalid Ahmed.
The refinance scheme is part of Bangladesh Bank's Tk60,000 crore broader stimulus framework and is designed to improve credit access for CMSME entrepreneurs at affordable interest rates.
Through this facility, ONE Bank seeks to consolidate its financing portfolio while bolstering enterprise growth, enhancing industrial production capacity, creating employment opportunities, and accelerating broader economic recovery.
