NSU holds discussion to honour victims of 1971 genocide

North South University (NSU) solemnly gathered today (Tuesday) to pay tribute to the martyrs who tragically lost their lives in the brutal massacre perpetrated by Pakistani invaders on the 25th of March, 1971.
Freedom Fighter and Professor Nazrul Islam, Department of Economics, NSU, were the chief guests in the commemorative discussion. NSU's Vice Chancellor, Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, presided over the event. Professor Abdur Rob Khan, NSU Treasurer and Pro Vice-Chancellor (IC), also graced the occasion.
The program commenced with a recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by a one-minute silence, and special prayers were offered for the souls of the departed martyrs.
In his welcoming speech, Professor Abdur Rob Khan remarked, "This is a day we will always remember for the sacrifices of those who gave their lives for our country."
Chief Guest Professor Nazrul Islam stated, "The true meaning of freedom lies in responsibility. The more we uphold our duties as individuals, our country will flourish. We will be free as a nation if everyone can do this."
Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury closed the event, stating, "In no way can we forget the 25th of March. It is a night that we should always remember and a night that gave shape to a new country. So, we must give the deepest respect to those who sacrificed their lives for our freedom. We would not be where we are today without their sacrifice."
Deans of different schools, chairpersons of various departments, directors, senior officials, teachers, and students were also present.
