New Zealand humanitarian visits orphanage in Narayangonj

New Zealand entrepreneur and humanitarian Sandra McKersey has visited Bangladesh, a country she describes as her "second home," reaffirming her commitment to social welfare and business partnership.
During the visit, McKersey spent time at the Alhaj Amijuddin Orphanage in Narayanganj, where she has long supported initiatives for orphan children. She shared lunch with the orphans, encouraged them about their future, and revisited facilities she helped establish, including dormitories and an auditorium that also serves the local community.
Alongside her philanthropic work, McKersey is engaged in Bangladesh's economy through Sandra Foods International Ltd., a joint venture with Managing Director Tasbih Hussain. The company employs over 300 people and operates 13 outlets in Dhaka and Narayanganj.
"Bangladesh has given me a sense of belonging that goes beyond borders," McKersey said, adding that her goal is to create opportunities through both community initiatives and business.
Recipient of the Queen's Service Medal from the late Queen Elizabeth II, McKersey's latest visit underscored her enduring bond with Bangladesh, rooted in compassion, shared growth, and mutual respect.
