Australian delegation visits AIUB for partnership talks
American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) welcomed Dr Aleksandr Voninski, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Global) of the University of Newcastle, Australia, to its campus on 28 September 2025.
Dr Voninski was accompanied by a delegation comprising Mostafizur Rahman, Senior Director – Trade and Investment, Australian High Commission in Bangladesh; Antony Joseph, Regional Director – South Asia, University of Newcastle; and Md Yousuf, Regional Manager – Bangladesh, University of Newcastle.
The delegation met with AIUB leadership, including Ishtiaque Abedin, Founder Member, Board of Trustees, AIUB, and Secretary General of the Association of Private Universities of Bangladesh; Prof Dr Saiful Islam, Vice-Chancellor; Professor Dr Nisar Ahmed, Treasurer; Group Captain (Retd) Dr Mohammad Zahidul Islam Khan, Registrar; Professor Dr Anwar Hossain, Adviser and Dean-in-Charge, Faculty of Business Administration; and Professor Dr S A M Manzur H Khan, Proctor.
Also in attendance were Abu Mia Akanda Tuhin, Head of Public Relations; Major (Retd) Faiz-Ul-Bari Rajon, Deputy Director, Administration; and Saadi Islam, Public Relations Officer.
Discussions centred on the academic partnership between AIUB and the University of Newcastle, with particular emphasis on student mobility, faculty collaboration, and research exchange. Both institutions reaffirmed their commitment to broadening opportunities for Bangladeshi students and advancing international academic cooperation.
The visit marks a significant step towards partnership, laying the foundation for meaningful collaboration that will benefit students, staff, and both academic communities.
