Midland Bank holds Annual Agent Banking Conference 2026
Midland Bank PLC launched its agent banking service, branded "Apnar Shatha Apnar Pasha", on 23 January 2017, with the aim of extending modern banking services to unbanked communities.
The bank said it currently operates 142 agent banking centres across 30 districts and 81 upazilas nationwide.
The bank held its Annual Agent Banking Conference 2026 at the Six Seasons Hotel in Gulshan, Dhaka, on 7 February 2026.
Md Ahsan-uz Zaman, Managing Director and CEO of Midland Bank PLC, inaugurated the day-long conference as chief guest and chaired the session. Owners and representatives of the bank's agent banking centres participated in the event.
Also present were Md Zahid Hossain, Deputy Managing Director and Chief Risk Officer; Md Nazmul Huda Sarkar, Deputy Managing Director, Head of IT, and CTO; Md Javed Tarek Khan, Head of Institutional Banking Division; members of the bank's agent banking rollout committee; divisional heads; heads of branches; and business development officers of agent banking centres.
According to Midland Bank, the agent banking initiative focuses on small entrepreneurs, school banking, and farmers as part of its financial inclusion agenda. The bank provides both conventional and Islamic agent banking services through its centres.
Services available through the agent banking outlets include opening savings and current accounts, cash deposits and withdrawals, and fund transfers. Customers can also send funds through BEFTN and RTGS to bank accounts, receive foreign remittances, apply for cheque books and cards, and access micro, medium, and krishi loans, according to the bank.
A doa was held, seeking blessings for the welfare and progress of the bank's agent banking operations and for the country.
The conference concluded with a prize-giving ceremony, during which the bank distributed crests and certificates to top performers in various categories.
